New Music Isn’t Always the Answer: Elliot Tousley
Musicians are told time and time again that the secret to hacking the Spotify algorithm is to just release new music again and again and be CONSISTENT.
Elliot Tousley, co-founder of De Novo Agency and the music distribution company Songflowr, explains why this train of thought can actually be detrimental to many independent artists:
Spotify’s algorithm doesn’t work based off of HOW your song sounds, it is based off of the immense amount of data they gather from those who listen to you.
Spotify’s algorithm likes to find patterns in the data, the more clearly they see where your content resonates, the sooner they will start spreading that content!
